Anbesol is an oral anesthetic which is available in a Maximum Strength gel and liquid. Baby Anbesol, available in a grape-flavored gel, is an anesthetic and is alcohol-free.

The Maximum Strength formulations contain Benzocaine 20%.

The Baby Anbesol Gels contain Benzocaine 7.5%.

   Maximum Strength Anbesol is indicated for the temporary relief of pain associated with toothache, canker sore, minor dental procedures, or minor injury or irritation of the mouth and gums caused by dentures or orthodontic appliances. Baby Anbesol Gel is indicated for the temporary relief of sore gums due to teething in infants and children 4 months of age and older.

:   Do not use for more than 7 days unless directed by a doctor/dentist. If sore mouth symptoms do not improve in 7 days; if irritation, pain or redness persists or worsens; or if swelling, rash or fever develops, see your doctor/dentist promptly. Do not exceed recommended dosage. Do not use this product if you have a history of allergy to local anesthetics such as procaine, butacaine, benzocaine, or other "caine" anesthetics. Fever and nasal congestion are not symptoms of teething and may indicate the presence of infection. If these symptoms persist, consult your doctor. Avoid contact with eyes. Keep this and all drugs out of the reach of children. In case of accidental overdose, seek professional assistance or contact a poison control center immediately.

Dosage and Administration:   Maximum Strength Anbesol: Gel--To open tube, cut tip on score mark with scissors. Liquid--Wipe liquid on with cotton, cotton swab, or fingertip.

Adults and children 2 years of age and older: Apply to the affected area on or within the mouth up to 4 times daily or as directed by a doctor/dentist. Children under 12 years of age should be supervised in the use of this product. Children under 2 years of age: Consult a doctor/dentist.

For gel only: For denture irritation, apply thin layer to affected area and do not reinsert dental work until irritation/pain is relieved. Rinse mouth well before reinserting. If irritation/pain persists, contact your doctor/dentist.

Grape Baby Anbesol : To open tube, cut tip on score mark with scissors. Apply to the affected area not more than 4 times daily or as directed by a doctor/dentist. For infants under 4 months of age there is no recommended dosage or treatment except under the advice and supervision of a doctor/dentist.

Grape Baby Gel:    Benzoic Acid, Carbomer 934P, D&C Red #33, Disodium EDTA, FD&C Blue #1, Flavor, Glycerin, Methylparaben, PEG-8, Propylparaben, Saccharin, Water.

How Supplied:   All Gels in .25 oz (7.1 g) tubes, Maximum Strength Liquid in .31 fl oz (9 mL) bottle. Store at room temperature.
