The vitamin components of Cefol are absorbed by the active transport process. All but Vitamin E are rapidly eliminated and not stored in the body. Vitamin E is stored in body tissues.
Indicated in non-pregnant* adults for treatment of Vitamin C deficiency states with associated deficient intake or increased need for Vitamin B-Complex, Folic Acid, and Vitamin E.
*Pregnancy may require greater Folic Acid intake.
Rare hypersensitivity to Folic Acid.
Folic Acid alone is improper treatment of pernicious anemia and other megaloblastic anemias where Vitamin B 12 is deficient.
Folic Acid above 0.1 mg daily may obscure pernicious anemia (hematologic remission may occur while neurological manifestations remain progressive).
Allergic sensitization has been reported following oral and parenteral administration of Folic Acid.
Usual adult dose is one tablet daily.
