Composition MALTSUPEX is a nondiastatic extract from barley malt, which is available in powder, liquid, and tablet form. Each MALTSUPEX product has a gentle laxative action and promotes soft, easily passed stools.
Tablet Each tablet contains 750 mg of Malt Soup Extract. Other ingredients: D&C Yellow No. 10, FD&C Red No. 40, flavor (artificial), hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, methylparaben, polyethylene glycol, povidone, propylparaben, sime- thicone emulsion, stearic acid, talc, titanium dioxide. Sodium content: Each tablet contains approximately 1 mg of sodium.
Powder : Each level scoop provides approximately 8 g of Malt Soup Extract. Sodium content: Each scoopful contains approximately 5 mg of sodium.
Liquid: Each tablespoonful ( 1 / 2 fl. oz.) contains approximately the equivalent of 16 g Malt Soup Extract Powder. Other ingredients: Potassium sorbate and sodium propionate. Sodium content: Each tablespoon contains approximately 36 mg of sodium.
EFFECTIVE, NON-HABIT-FORMING
For relief of occasional constipation. This product generally produces a bowel movement in 12 to 72 hours.
: Do not use laxative products when abdominal pain, nausea or vomiting are present unless directed by a physician. If constipation persists, consult a physician.
If you have noticed a sudden change in bowel habits that persists over a period of 2 weeks, consult a physician before using a laxative.
Keep this and all medications out of the reach of children. In case of accidental overdose, seek professional assistance or contact a poison control center immediately.
Laxative products should not be used for a period longer than one week unless directed by a physician. Rectal bleeding or failure to have a bowel movement after use of a laxative may indicate a serious condition. Discontinue use and consult a physician.
As with any drug, if you are pregnant or nursing a baby, seek the advice of a health professional before using this product.
MALTSUPEX Liquid only-- Do not use this product if you are on a sodium-restricted diet unless directed by a physician. Maltsupex Liquid contains approximately 1.58 mEq (36 mg) of sodium per tablespoon.
Maltsupex Tablets contain approximately 0.02 mEq (0.46 mg) of sodium per tablet.
Each scoop of Maltsupex Powder contains approximately 0.22 mEq (5 mg) of sodium per scoop.
Note : Allow for carbohydrate content in diabetic diets and infant formulas.
Liquid: (67%, 14 g/tablespoon, or 56 calories/tablespoon)

Directions: General-- Drink a full glass (8 ounces) of liquid with each dose. The recommended daily dosage of MALTSUPEX may vary. Use the smallest dose that is effective and lower dosage as improvement occurs.
MALTSUPEX Powder-- Each bottle contains a scoop. Each scoopful (which is the equivalent of a standard measuring tablespoon) should be levelled with a knife.
MALTSUPEX Tablets: Adult Dosage: Start with four tablets (3 g) four times daily (with meals and at bedtime) and adjust dosage according to response, not to exceed 48 tablets (36 g) daily. Drink a full glass (8 oz.) of liquid with each dose.

Preparation Tips: Powder-- Add dosage to milk, water, or fruit juice and stir until dissolved. Mixing is easier if added to warm milk or warm water. May be flavored with vanilla or cocoa to make "malteds." Excellent with warm milk at bedtime. Also available in tablet and liquid forms.
Note: Although shade, texture, taste, and height of contents may vary between bottles, action remains the same.
Liquid: Mixing is easier if MALTSUPEX Liquid is added to an ounce or two of warm water and stirred. Then add milk, water, or fruit juice and stir until dissolved. May be flavored with vanilla or cocoa to make "malteds." Excellent with warm milk at bedtime. Also available in tablet and powder forms.
Professional Labeling: The dosage for children under 2 years of age is:
Powder 2 to 3 level measuring teaspoonfuls, 3 to 4 times per day, in water, fruit juice, or formula.
Liquid: 1 to 2 measuring teaspoonfuls, 2 to 3 times per day, in water, fruit juice, or formula.
How Supplied: MALTSUPEX is supplied in 8 ounce (NDC 0037-9101-12) and 16 ounce (NDC 0037-9101-08) jars of MALTSUPEX Powder; 8 fluid ounce (NDC 0037-9051-12) and 1 pint (NDC 0037-9051-08) bottles of MALTSUPEX Liquid; and in bottles of 100 MALTSUPEX Tablets (NDC 0037-9201-01).
Storage: Store at controlled room temperature 20°-25°C (68°-77°F). Protect MALTSUPEX powder and tablets from moisture.
