Kidney failure and the process of dialysis causes vitamin losses necessitating the regular replacement of the water soluble vitamins. It is important not to over supplement some vitamins. Vitamin A should not be supplemented and vitamin C supplementation should be limited to 60 mg per day to avoid the risk of increased oxalate formation.
